Search and Rescue is not just for those handling the four-legged. There are many jobs within the SAR world essential to the successful outcome of a search.

 

Flankers. Support in the location of clues and assist the handler with navigation, communications, and first aid.

 

Ground Support. Some search tasks may not include a canine team but are led by a ground support team instead. Just like canine handlers, ground support team leads must hold and maintain a SARTECH II certification.

 

Support personnel. On a search, support personnel are essential with roles of operating UTV or ATVs on scene, medical personnel, radio operators, and staff to assist with command and logistics to name a few.
